Please, vote NO on SB2233/HB2827 when it comes before the House Public Health Subcommittee or the Senate Government Operations Committee.
The bill was not sought by the transgender community, parents of transgender youth, or health care providers and their associations. Additionally it is important to note that protocols change as research and experience provide new information. It is a burden and a risk to go through a legislative or regulatory change every time the standards evolve. That could stall the implementation of best practices in health care for Tennessee residents.
The Tennessee Medical Association noted in testimony before the Senate Health and Welfare Committee on March 11 that they oppose putting standards of care in the code. This is a bad precedent.
Thank you for considering my views.
