Tell President-Elect Biden: It's Time to End Student Hunger
Dear President Elect Biden,
On January 20th, 2021, you will be inheriting a nation hurting from the impacts of COVID-19, continued income inequality, and ever-growing poverty. In America, no college student works to better themselves and their community should fight food insecurity and hunger. Yet, millions of students in four and two year higher education institutions are struggling to know where their next meal will come from.
This hunger crisis has many causes: high tuition, low paying jobs, and draconian hurdles to accessing public programs, but it does not have to be this way. On day one, your administration can stand with our nation's students, those who are our country's future, and make ending student hunger a priority!
From student loan forgiveness, expanding SNAP eligibility to college students, increasing The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) funds for food banks, and additional COVID relief for students, we can begin to end hunger on our nation's campuses today! While our country may seem divided, your administration and congressional leaders have the opportunity to unite our country on the value of equal opportunity. Act now to ensure the next generation of American leaders will be lifted up by their community to reach their full potential.
