Support Increased Funding for BOOST Scholarships

As a Catholic in your district, I am asking you to support economic justice for low-income families in our community by voting to increase funding for the BOOST Scholarship Program to $10 million next school year (HB 588/SB 491).

BOOST (the Broadening Options and Opportunities Today Scholarship Program) has empowered thousands of Maryland families by giving them the ability to choose new educational options for their children through scholarships to attend Catholic or other nonpublic schools.

For BOOST families, these scholarships are a path to economic justice by helping close the achievement gap and allowing their children to thrive in school.

The number of families on the waitlist for scholarships tripled this year. BOOST recipients come from families across Maryland with an average annual income under $36,000, the majority are people of color, and one-third are English-language learners. This program truly serves those in need.

The proposed budget funds this program at $10 million for next year. In light of the success and demand for this program, I am asking you to support economic justice by voting YES on that BOOST funding.

As a Catholic, I believe that parents should have the ability to choose the right fit for their child’s education. BOOST enables those who might not otherwise be able to afford it with the means to do so.

I ask you, as my elected representative, to support this vital program and the proposed increase in funding in the budget.

Thank you,

Hello.

I am a Catholic in your district. I am asking you to support economic justice for low-income families in our community by voting to increase funding for the BOOST Scholarship Program to $10 million next school year in HB 588 (or SB 491 for your senator).

BOOST (Broadening Options and Opportunities Today Scholarship Program) empowers families by giving them the ability to choose  educational options for their children through scholarships to attend Catholic or other nonpublic schools.

BOOST families have an average income under $36,000. These scholarships help close the achievement gap and allow children, most of whom are children of color, to thrive in school.

The proposed budget funds this program at $10 million for next year. In light of the success and demand for this program, please support economic justice by voting YES on that BOOST funding.

Thank you,
