Vote NO on SB659/HB1535 and HB800 on April 7

Dear [title] [last name],

April 7 is an important day for the future of instruction in Tennessee. On that day, the Senate and House Education committees will consider SB659/HB1535 banning supplemental instructional materials not approved by the State Board of Education.

In addition, the House Education Instruction Committee will take up HB800 that bans textbooks and instructional materials related to the LGBTQ community.

Because you are a member of one of these committees, I am asking you to vote NO on these bills.  Whatever their intent, the effect of both bills is the same--erasing LGBTQ people from history, literature, health, the arts, etc. and hampering teachers with unwelcome restrictions.

Please, let teachers teach and stop advancing bills that stigmatize LGBTQ students, a population that already has inadequate resources and unique challenges in our state.

Thank you for considering my views.
