Using the Constitution to impose the extreme beliefs of a small minority, who believe there should be no limits on abortion, is a misuse of our highest legal document.
This proposed amendment is a move to shutdown future debate on the abortion issue in our state. Once part of the Constitution, even the legislature would lose its ability to pass legislation on this issue.
Connecticut is already one of the most abortion friendly states in the nation. Its laws enshrine the Rowe v Wade U.S. Supreme Court ruling. Even if the U.S. Supreme Court reverses the Rowe v Wade decision it would have no impact on a woman's right to an abortion in Connecticut.
