Stop Rep. Ilhan Omar's Pro-Islamist Res. HR 1196 that promotes Hinduphobia

Dear [title] [last name]

I request you to reject Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN)’s recently introduced resolution HR 1196, which unfairly and dishonestly condemns India’s human rights record and alleges “violations of international religious freedom.”

This resolution undermines the deep relationship between the world’s most powerful democracy, US and the world’s largest democracy, India.  Unlike India’s neighbors, minorities in India have thrived.  Over 170 million Muslims and Christians enjoy the guarantees provided by the secular Indian constitution and the Indian culture based on Hindu ethos.

This resolution will also result in increased hate against Hindus, Indian-Americans and broader Asian American communities.  It will also increase the attacks on Hindu temples (mandirs) and lead to the bullying of Hindu children and attacks on Hindu businesses.

Rep. Omar’s HR 1196 is not borne out of ignorance.  It is political pandering. She has clearly taken talking points from Jamaat-e-Islami and Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups while drafting her resolution.  Rep. Omar showed her anti-Hindu and anti-Indian bias while revealing her ties to Pakistan. In April, Omar unofficially visited Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) for a photo op with US-hating former Prime Minister Imran Khan with Pakistan-born Houston businessman Tahir Javed.  That same month, the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) released a biased report requesting India to be designated as a country of special concern.

As your constituent, I request you to reject this resolution
