Elders Are Urging Members of Congress to Take Action on Climate Change
As member of Elders Climate Action, a movement of elder voters dedicated to taking action on climate change, I am writing to ask for your support of legislation that will take immediate action on climate change.
The science is clear; 97% of scientists agree that human-caused climate change is real, urgent and must be addressed. America has the opportunity to be a leader, in both domestic legislative actions and in our global response to curb rapid progress of climate change. There is little doubt that climate change poses a threat to our citizens, our economic growth, our national security, and our reputation as a world leader. In addition, there are many new opportunities for economic development in the transition to renewable energy.
As an elder I am dedicated to preserving the planet for my children, grandchildren, future generations and all life. As a voter in your district, I am committed to vote for legislators who acknowledge that climate change exists and will take action.
If you have not already done so, I urge you to acknowledge that human caused climate change is “real” and I implore you to work across party lines to take immediate legislative action to protect the American people, our great country and the planet from the devastating effects of climate change.
We can no longer hide from the reality of climate change. It is imperative that we work together to address this life-sustaining issue. The time is now, we can't afford to wait.
Thank you in advance.
