Vote NO on HB2620 on Wednesday

Please, vote NO on HB2620 when it comes before the Civil Justice Subcommittee on Wednesday afternoon.  A similar bill, HB1488, was withdrawn earlier in the legislative session because the sponsor deemed it unnecessary.

This gratuitous bill, while accomplishing nothing productive, vaults Tennessee into the national spotlight as a state hostile to transgender students.  This hostility is bad for students and bad for Tennessee financially.  In addition to incurring the cost of defending school districts, Tennessee is at risk of suffering the same economic consequences as North Carolina.

A November 2016 Forbes article estimated that North Carolina lost about $600 Million in business because of its bathroom bill.

This legislation has nothing to recommend it and much to give you pause.  Thank you for considering my views.
