Please Support Access to Midwives (in favor of H.1948/S.1332)
As your constituent, I urge you to support H.1948/ S.1332 the Out-of-Hospital Birth Access and Safety Act sponsored by Representative Kay Khan and Senator Becca Rausch.
It is important to me that every pregnant person in Massachusetts have access to safe and respectful maternity care providers in the birth setting of their choice. States that integrate midwives into their health care systems have fewer newborn deaths, fewer preemies, fewer C-sections, and higher rates of breastfeeding.
35 other states already have similar legislation on the books, with the most recent additions of Hawaii and Kentucky earlier this year and Alabama last year. Our neighbors in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Rhode Island already integrate Certified Professional Midwives into their maternity care systems.
The time is now to...
- Address our maternal health crisis through greater use of midwives
- Create equitable access to birth choices
- Eliminate maternity care deserts with community-based midwives
- Join the 35 other states that recognize Certified Professional Midwives
Please take a stand for moms and babies in Massachusetts today by supporting H.1948/ S.1332.
