Urge the Education Committee to Hold a Public Hearing on Girls Sports Bill

SAVE GIRLS SPORTS AND PRIVACY

Proposed Bill H.B. No. 5352 'AN ACT PROHIBITING STUDENTS WHO ARE BIOLOGICAL MALES FROM COMPETING ON FEMALE-ONLY ATHLETIC TEAMS AND USING FEMALE-ONLY LOCKER ROOMS AND FACILITIES', has been referred to the Education Committee.

This legislation will restore the rights of our girls and women in scholastic sports. This law is needed to make it clear that sports must be reserved for specific genders and not a dangerous test tube for values that are against natural law and Constitutional rights.

Federal Title IX will once again protect women, but we need a state law to ensure and make clear young women will be allowed to pursue their dreams.

We know that some Connecticut girls have experienced the trauma of losing championships and scholarship opportunities and that women have been injured by men on the field.

The bill would also insure that biological males and females have separate locker rooms and bathrooms to insure their privacy based on biological sex.

Please support our efforts to get a public hearing on this issue in the Education Committee so young women, their parents and those who care about equality of opportunity and basic privacy rights can be heard.

Urge Public Health Committee to hold a Hearing on Gender Treatment for Minors

Protect Minors from Unproven Life-Altering Medical Treatments and Surgeries.

Proposed Bill H.B. No. 5370 'AN ACT PROHIBITING CERTAIN TREATMENT PRACTICES AND PROMOTING PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR MINORS EXPERIENCING GENDER DYSPHORIA OR INCONGRUENCE', has been referred to the Public Health Committee.

This legislation will prohibit health care providers from 1) prescribing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to minors suffering from gender dysphoria if non-FDA approved 2) prohibit surgeries on minors related to gender-dysphoria and 3) promote more mental health treatment .

The evidence supporting the medical measures being promoted as part of gender-affirming care is severely lacking. Several other Western European nations and several states have taken steps to ban certain medical treatments for minors suffering from gender dysphoria due to concerns over the long range harm it may cause them. The U.S. Supreme Court is now considering a challenge to a state law banning certain treatments. During the hearing on the case many justices were surprised at the lack of evidence proving these medical practices actually aided the minor.

The appropriate and safe care for this group of young people is critically important.  The State of Connecticut should place bans on certain treatments until solid scientific evidence proves they are beneficial and will not harm the minor in the years to come.

Urge Finance Committee to hold a Hearing on Scholarship Tax Credits

Strengthen Catholic Schools:

In order to build stronger scholarship foundations that can fund more Connecticut students to attend nonpublic schools, State Sen. Fazio proposed S.B.122, which encourages charitable giving by allowing tax credits for donations to scholarship granting organizations. We urge you to request that the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee raise S.B.122 for a public hearing.
