Please, vote NO on HB800 when it comes before the House Finance Subcommittee on March 2.
This bill effectively bans LGBTQ materials in history, literature, and other subjects in our public schools. This is viewpoint discrimination and censorship, which will result in costly First Amendment litigation.
Students deserve an excellent education that is accurate and full. This bill picks and chooses which topics and which people are acceptable, which is contrary to the best educational standards.
Tennessee schools should accept all students, including LGBTQ students, and teach accurate information without the hindrance of the restrictions in this bill.
