Please, vote NO on HB1895 on March 2 when it comes before you in the Education Administration Committee.
HB1895 directs the TN Commissioner of Education to withhold state funds from school districts that do not discriminate against transgender student athletes. The Legislature has already passed a law restricting transgender student athletes and it is in federal litigation now. This bill furthers discriminatory action and rhetoric against transgender students and puts school funding in jeopardy. It's time for the Legislature to show care and concern for the well-being of transgender students who experience more bullying and discrimination than their peers.
