Please, vote NO on HB2633 and HB2316 on April 19 in House Finance Committee.
Since these bills passed in the Finance Subcommittee, there are new reasons to take the fiscal notes seriously and reject them. On March 31, 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice sent a letter to every state attorney general saying that discrimination against transgender youth is sex discrimination and that it risks funding for states participating in federal programs.
Even if you don't agree with me that the bills are discriminatory, it's important to understand that they likely will be viewed as such by the federal government. We should not risk education funding to allow a few teachers to reject a student's pronouns or to interfere with the eligibility of athletes, especially since there are sports governing bodies more competent to address the issues.
Thank you for considering my views.
