Please, vote NO on HB2379 on March 16 in the House Civil Justice Subcommittee. Many couples do not want a religious ceremony or aren't members of a congregation and may not have access to a religious leader to preside at their ceremony. With some couples, the spouses are of different religions and may not want to show preference to one of their faith traditions. Allowing public officials to preside at weddings helps all citizens of our state.
This bill makes it harder for people to get married in Tennessee and that is the essence of anti-family public policy.
Thank you for considering my views.
