Please, vote NO on HB1027. This legislation is a caption bill that will carry language regulating the standards for best-practice health care for transgender youth. This bill will be up for consideration in the House Health Subcommittee on April 6.
As a member of this committee, it is important for you know that transgender youth, their parents, and their physicians--the people most affected by the bill--have not requested this legislation. It could result in the interruption of the standard of care for transgender youth. The current standard of care is backed by research, is ethical, and it saves the lives of transgender youth. It does not need to be put in the Tennessee Code.
