Modernize the FDA. Allow reliable human-relevant testing methods.

Dear %TITLE% %LAST%,

I'm writing in support of the FDA Modernization Act of 2021 and asking you to work on behalf of your constituents to pass this important bill.

This bill would advance scientific research while protecting and improving human health. New drugs could be tested on human biology, producing the most human-relevant information on a new drug's safety and effectiveness. Modern non-animal testing could include the use of cell-based assays, microphysiological systems, organ chips, computer modeling, and other human-based test methods.

Currently, an estimated 192 million animals are used in research each year. These animals suffer physical and psychological harm even though non-animal testing methods are available. I believe it's time to modernize the FDA's 80-year-old drug testing protocols and allow drug deveopers to choose the most ethical, reliable, and relevant testing methods available to them.

I'm a constituent from (city, state). I'm calling in support of the FDA Modernization Act of 2021 and asking you to help pass this important bill.

The current FDA requirements are 80 years old. Science has advance, along with our understanding of animals and their capacity to suffer great physical and mental harm. We need to modernize research by allowing drug developers to choose the best and most reliable testing method available. This bill does that.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
