NO on Senate Bills 2777, 2153, 1861, and 1944 on March 29

Several bills important to me are on the Senate Education calendar for March 29. I ask you to vote NO on these bills when they come before you.
SB2777: This bill props up school personnel who show disrespect to students by ignoring their pronouns. Education policy should be about accepting and working constructively with students, not causing conflict. Research shows that students do better when educational policies guarantee respect for their gender. When policies and school personnel are hostile, the results are devastating.
SB2153 and SB1861: These bills extend the ban on transgender athletes to college students and add to penalties for local school districts that are not in compliance with the ban passed last year by the General Assembly. Instead of passing these bills, the Legislature should look at policies that allow everyone to participate in sports because of the mental and physical health benefits. Do not threaten schools with loss of funds.
SB1944: The premise of this bill is that school librarians are putting obscenity before students. What school librarians do every week is professionally provide age-appropriate materials to our students. This bill will lead to endless book challenges that will disrupt the educational process and land schools in court for censorship.
