Two bills important to me are on the Senate Education calendar for March 30. I ask you to vote NO on these bills when they come before you.
SB2777: This bill props up school personnel who show disrespect to students by ignoring their pronouns. Education policy should be about accepting and working constructively with students, not causing conflict. Research shows that students do better when educational policies guarantee respect for their gender. When policies and school personnel are hostile, the results are devastating.
SB2153: Tennessee should not interfere as the NCAA develops policies for the inclusion of transgender athletes. Our state should encourage more opportunities for all student athletes and address the real barriers facing women's athletics such as funding and facilities.
Thank you for considering my views on these bills.
