Issue a mask mandate for Montgomery County.

Please, issue a mask/face covering requirement for Montgomery County similar to the orders issued in Shelby County, Metro Nashville, and Knox County in order to protect public health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wearing masks demonstrably makes the public safer from COVID-19. Now that Governor Lee has given county executives the power to issue these orders and because of the number of cases in Montgomery County, this is the right thing to do.

Summary

On July 3 Governor Bill Lee signed an executive order granting county mayors the authority to issue mask/face covering mandates. We call on Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett to require the use of masks in public similar to the orders issues in Shelby, Davidson, and Knox Counties.
